A Day In The Park

This weekend has been super lovely so far and it’s just Sunday afternoon so there is still lots to savor!!  Before I start this post I want to say a few things about some goals I have for the future, so we finished the 21 Day Sugar Detox and that was great!!  I am proud of what we have done this year, last year we did the Whole 30 and while it was eye opening and definitely a step in the right direction we totally fell of the Paleo/Primal wagon as soon as the month was over.  We would do great during the week and then begin the weekend with a pizza delivery and whiskey or Mexican food and margaritas and then have breakfast tacos the next day and eat out again on Saturday night and then  . . .  You get the idea, we were not able to stay true to our original vision of eating for optimal health and living life to the absolute fullest!

This year has been different!  We made the decision to not drink liquor or beer, to not eat wheat at all and to cut off the cable and give away our two T.V.’s!  I think we have done an excellent job of staying true to our goal of wellness and optimal living, but I think there is a lot that we can improve upon!  First things first, we are drinking too much wine!  We both love coming home and relaxing on the couch with a crisp glass of white wine (our current and super economical favorite is this awesome boxed wine called Bota Box)!  Second, we are using gluten free pizza as our begin the weekend crutch instead of a one-in-awhile treat, and third, we are eating way to much cheese (yes it’s pastured and organic, but yes I think it is still keeping us from achieving our goals of feeling awesome and Totally Optimal!!!).

So, what does this mean you ask? Well, for starters I want us to drink a lot less wine, eat a lot less gluten free pizza and dairy, and I want to get moving more!!  I do a great job of walking around Town Lake on the weekend, but what about during the week and what about some resistance training?  These are things I want, and I need to get off my butt and make them happen!!  We have a business where we sell fitness ropes and workout tires and I do not even work out with my own products!  This needs to change and I am the only one who is going to make it happen!!!  I have fallen in love with this picture, it makes me want to live and explore and enjoy life to the fullest and that all starts with wellness and wellness starts with me!!

548585_487894984603601_456897220_nThanks for listening, it helps me so much to write down what I am feeling and to put my desires out there into the universe!!  Okay, so on to this awesome weekend, be  warned it did contain some wine and not-so-primal sushi but all things in moderation and today is a new day!!  Yesterday was simply delightful and today has some pretty awesome things in store as well!!

I started the day with coffee535589_4689836200847_1899917573_n at Bouldin Creek with my best friend, I call her Ms. Holliday because we used to teach together and she will always be Ms. Holliday to me!!  I had to take a picture of my beverage because it was so beautiful and yummy!!  I ordered four shots of espresso over ice and I brought my own unsweetened Almond Milk to pour over it!!  Absolutely divine . . .

It was great to sit and discuss life and education with someone who gets that side of me!!  I am very thankful for that friendship!!  Heart you Holliday!! =)

Next, Amber and I took the dogs to the park by our house, we let them run and swim and just enjoy being dogs!!  They were happy and tired and happy tired puppies make for happy moms!!  We typically spend our weekend days walking the lake with the whole family (Chance, Starbuck and Fuerte), but yesterday we decided to have puppy play time first and then do the lake by ourselves!!  It was delightful, Town Lake487159_4691389439677_2057148938_n is both mine and Amber’s favorite place in the city and walking sans dogs is a special treat that we like to indulge in upon occasion!!

Yesterday was wonderful as usual and after our walk we decided to treat ourselves to sushi!!  We typically choose Mexican food when we eat out, but we have been talking about sushi forever . . . so sushi it was!!

We enjoyed a glass of wine and some yummy treats!!  I am sometimes a bit squeamish about eating the actual sushi for most of the time I opt for the veggie options and Amber likes her sushi to have cream cheese and her soy sauce to have lots of wasabi!!  Here are some pics of our wine and my veggie plate!!  Yummy!!!

And if the day had not been lovely enough already, we made a special treat stop on the way home to check out this ice cream shop that we have been talking about trying . . . Lick!!  The cool thing about Lick is that they source all of their milk from local grassfed dairy farms and they also have non-dairy options!!  Here are Amber and I picking out our flavors!!!  I am so lucky and so grateful for everything that I have!!  I am also ready to live and eat  in a way that is going to help me feel my very best!!  The world is my oyster (and yours too) and I want to claim my destiny and my destiny is wellness and optimal health!!  Live Your Dreams!! =)
